Buying a camera to get serious about photography is exciting — but as a beginner, it’s easy to get stuck wondering what else you actually need.
This post covers the essential accessories for Sony a6700 that you literally can’t shoot without. These are my personal picks after 10+ years of shooting.
You’ll want to use your camera the moment it arrives, so I’d recommend picking these up at the same time you order the body — whether you already own it or are about to buy one.

Interchangeable Lens
The camera body alone can’t take a single photo — a lens is non-negotiable from day one.
A zoom lens is one of the most essential accessories for Sony a6700 owners, letting you cover everything from landscapes to portraits with just one lens. Go with a bright standard zoom (f/2.8 or faster) and you can’t go wrong as your first lens.

An ultra-wide zoom that fits both you and the scenery behind you into frame with your arm barely extended. At around 255g, it’s one of the smallest, lightest lenses in its class — perfect for vlogging, selfies, and capturing wide landscapes while traveling.
SD Card
When rounding up essential accessories for Sony a6700, choosing an SD card based on price alone can backfire — a slow write speed can cause 4K footage to stop mid-recording, or worse, corrupt your files and lose your memories for good. Look at the write speed (the V-rating) and stick to trusted brands.
For 4K video, you’ll need at least Speed Class 10 and UHS Speed Class 3. The a6700 supports UHS-II, so V90 gives you headroom for All-Intra recording, while V60 is plenty for standard 4K shooting.

Charging Setup
Power solutions are often overlooked essential accessories for Sony a6700 setups. The camera comes with one battery, but no charging cable or wall adapter is included.
You’ll want a charger and a USB-C cable at minimum. If you’d also like a spare battery, a charger-and-battery bundle kit is worth considering.
If you’re not sure where to start, pick up the following two first, and add a spare battery later if you need one. If you want to power the camera while shooting, you can add the SmallRig Universal Power Bank Holder (4600) on top of these.
USB-C Cable + Charger
If you already own a USB-C charger for your PC or phone, you can charge the camera with it directly. If not, here’s what I’d recommend:
- Charger: UGREEN 100W Type-C Fast Charger, 75cm Retractable Cable
- USB-C Cable: UGREEN USB Type-C Cable, PD 100W/5A
Charger + Battery Bundle Kit (for a spare battery too)
These kits pair a battery with a charger, which works out cheaper than buying the battery separately — and gets you a spare battery at the same time.
- SONY ACC-ZD1K (BC-ZD1 + NP-FZ100) — USB PD-compatible, charges two batteries simultaneously in about 155 minutes. No charger or cable is included, so pair it with the items above.
- SONY ACC-QZ1K (BC-QZ1 + NP-FZ100) — An older model that comes with an AC cord included, so you can just plug it straight into the wall.
Power Bank (for charging on the go)
Continuous Power While Shooting (great for home use / livestreaming)
Mount a power bank directly onto the camera and you can shoot for as long as you like without worrying about battery life — ideal for long recording sessions or livestreams at home.
- SmallRig Universal Power Bank Holder (4600) — A cold-shoe mount that lets you attach a power bank directly to the camera.
- SONY DC-C1 (for NP-FZ100 / NP-FW50) — A dummy-battery DC coupler that powers the camera directly, so the internal battery never gets drained during long shoots.
- You can use the same UGREEN 100W Type-C Fast Charger and UGREEN Nexode 20000mAh Power Bank mentioned above for this setup — no need to buy anything extra.
Wrap-Up: Checklist of Essential Accessories for Sony a6700
Once you’ve got these four things, you’re ready to shoot:
- Camera body: SONY α6700
- Interchangeable lens: SIGMA 18-50mm F2.8, SIGMA 10-18mm F2.8
- SD card: if unsure, go with the SanDisk Extreme PRO V60
- Charging setup: UGREEN 100W Type-C Fast Charger (cable built-in) + UGREEN Nexode 20000mAh Power Bank (cable built-in)
Both come with their cables built in, so this pair alone covers all your charging needs. Rather than buying the camera body first and adding pieces one at a time, picking up these essential accessories for Sony a6700 upfront ensures you can start shooting the day it arrives.
If you’re planning long recording sessions or livestreams, it’s also worth looking into the SmallRig Universal Power Bank Holder (4600) and SONY DC-C1 for continuous power.
